Edwards.
Burr.
Edwards…
Burr.
The bloodline is heavy.
The clock is ticking.

Check the pedigree, read the inscription
My life was mapped out before my conception
Grandson of Edwards, the fire and brimstone preacher
Son of the President, I am the creature
Of expectation, legacy, burden and books
They look at the cradle, catching the looks
"Is he the savior? Is he the saint?"
I’m painted in portrait before I can paint.

I am the Prodigy, running out of time
Orphaned at two, but the mountain I climb
Is built of the bones of the giants before me
History’s waiting, ready to score me
Skip the childhood, skip the games
I’m thirteen years old with the weight of the names!

Princeton, New Jersey. The College of Kings
I walk on the campus and pull on the strings
Sophomore year, and I’m barely a teen
While other boys play, I am running the scene
I read through the night, burn the candle to wax
Theology, Philosophy, sharpening facts
They say "Slow down, Aaron, you’re moving too fast"
I say "I have a shadow that’s cast by the past!"

They talk about Hamilton? The boy from the isle?
Please.
He writes to get out. I study for style.
He’s hungry for something he never possessed
I’m starving to prove that I’m simply the best
He’s loud. I’m quiet.
He’s chaos. I’m law.
But look at the board, and tell me, who do you see?
Who graduates first?
Who gets the degree?

I am the Prodigy, ahead of the curve
I don’t need the luck, I rely on the nerve
The world is a lock, and I hold the key
Princeton at sixteen! Look at me!
I’m not the villain, I’m not the mistake
I am the genius the century makes!

But books aren't enough.
The ink is too dry.
I hear the cannons.
It’s time to fly.
